The Barossa is Australia’s most famous wine region. Thankfully, it has also been my home since 1980 and I have been fortunate to be amongst an amazing group of people here – winemakers, vignerons and of course friends.

Tristan & Isolde is a medieval tale of star-crossed lovers, knight Tristan and princess Isolde told from the 12th century.

2021 Tristan Barossa Shiraz Reviews

Tristan Barossa Valley Shiraz 2021 – Following hot on the heels of his beloved Isolde comes Tristan. This is a cracking Barossa Shiraz and brilliant value.
Near opaque maroon. Notes of chocolate and mocha, black fruits, cassis, raisins and hints of dried fruits, this is big and bold. Everything you’d expect from a top Barossa Shiraz. Seamless and supple in structure, the palate sees notes of aniseed and soy, and yet more chocolate, emerge. There is serious length here and impressive persistence. Cashmere-like tannins. Love it. Ten to fifteen years. 95.

Wine Pilot, Ken Gargett

Richly fruited and gorgeously complex on the nose, showing blackberry, smoked game, roasted spice and cedary oak characters with a hint of dark cocoa. The palate is satisfying and delicious with excellent concentration and plump mouthfeel, wonderfully complemented by velvety texture and beautifully infused tannins, finishing persistent and delectably flavoursome. At its best: now to 2036. July 2023.

Wine Orbit, Sam Kim

A perfect partner in wine to the Cabernet at this level. Similarly generous and lavishly textured with dense and concentrated fruit delivered with restraint and refinement. Adams likes his oak and this one got 24 moths in French oak, yet it is harmonious and complete with a velvety smooth finish. Score: 94/100. Cellar: 10 years
